HIV AND AIDS

Background

The Ministry of Education has established a HIV and AIDS sub-programme on ETSIP and setup a 5 Year Plan(2006 - 2011) and a 2 Year Plan(2006 - 2008)

The HIV and AIDS sub-programmes is integrated into the framework of the National Strategic Medium Term Plan III (2004 - 2009), MTP III

The HIV and AIDS sub-programme consists of five components

1. Awareness raising and Empowerment
2. Mainstreaming HIV and AIDS
3. Strengthening the Regulatory Framework
4. Meeting the needs of OVC
5. Managing the HIV and AIDS Response

The stakeholders are : HAMU, RACE in the regions and Sectoral Steering Committee for advice and guiding the education sector on matters partaining to HIV and AIDS activities.
