Ministry of Education

Honorable Minister Nangolo Mbumba

Minister Mbumba

HIV/AIDS is a complex and multifaceted, development problem, which requires both short-term containment actions and long-term, sustained, and broad-based responses. Such responses include a range of activities involving virtually all levels and sectors of government and society.

Fighting HIV/AIDS is not only a great challenge, but also a moral imperative for those who believe in the value and dignity of every human life. Through this website, the Ministry of Education intends to raise HIV/AIDS awareness amongst the education sector’s employees and learners. The Ministry is of the view that the Aids Awareness campaign will enhance the dissemination of information to students and education sector employees.

I urge all Namibians to join me in reaffirming our commitment to combating HIV/AIDS. I encourage all Namibians to participate in appropriate commemorative programs and ceremonies in houses of worship, workplaces, and community centres to remember those who have lost their lives to this deadly disease and to comfort and support those who are living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

In the process of conducting research and setting up this website a multitude of people made indispensable contributions, of varying natures, in various spheres and of different magnitude. We are truly thankful to them for sharing their time, energies, enthusiasm, knowledge and experience.

I heartily thank those who took care of the design, technical outlay and language editing of the website as well as the artwork. In addition, I would like to convey my sincere gratitude to the numerous informants in the national, regional and local spheres of governance and Government. My thanks goes to a large number of representatives of communities, NGO’s, Embassy representatives and the business sector, who so generously shared their knowledge, time, experience and wisdom with us.
